Genre Change!

After filming my music video for an indie/rock song and trying to stick with the conventional conventions of rock music video, I have decided that I want to change my genre. This is because I feel I can be a lot more creative in the music video if I chose more of a pop/dance/hip hop song. I want to be able to use bright colours and my artists skills to make a video with a creative concept.
I have been listening to  songs on SoundCloud from smaller artists.

One artist who has caught my eye is Jon Bellion.
He is an American producer, songwriter, singer and rapper. His songs that have caught my eye are:
Jon Bellion // All Time Low
Jon Bellion // Woke the F*ck Up
B.o.B // Violence feat. Jon Bellion
Zedd // Beautiful Now feat. Jon Bellion [Grey Remix]

I really like the upbeat nature of his songs and I feel that I will be able to use a more abstract concept with this genre.

Advertising Music

In modern society there are endless ways for artists to advertise and promote their music.
These include:
-Music videos
-Posters and Billboards
-Facebook and other social media
-iTunes
-Gigs/Tours/festivals
-Product Sponsors

Posters:

Artists often use these for advertising a new album release of a show they are playing. They almost always fit with the theme of their album artwork or the artists current image they are using.
For example, Fall Out Boy's new album:

The  black and white American flag is used in both the album cover and the tour poster they did for this album. The use of little amount of graphics and photorealistic colours is also used in both. This all helps create a certain star image that the band are aiming for.

Another example is The Struts' album:

They have really gone with the pink, black and white colour theme and included it in most of their advertising. The same image of the lead singer from the album cover is also used at a background for tour posters. It exemplifies and really represents the flamboyant nature of the band.

Social Media:

Artists seem to have found that the internet is the easiest way to promote themselves. This is due to the sheer amount of people on the internet, it is almost certain that their adverts will get seen by a large amount of people. Social media allows fans to create fan groups which inevitably grows larger and alerts more and more people of the artist.

Fall Out Boy:

 Facebook

The Struts:

You can see from both bands that it is common for artists to use the same images on numerous social media websites in order for viewers to remember them. Someone may come across that image on one social platform and then another and take this as encouragement to look into the artist.
